The prophecy of Ezekiel, known as “the vision of the dry bones”, prophesied the Geulah of Israel and described its process: Prophesy over these bones, and say unto them: O’ dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will bring to you the breath of life, and you shall be revived. I will put on you nerves, I will grow around you flesh, and cover you with skin, then I will put into you the spirit, and you shall live and you will know that I am the LORD. (Ezekiel 37, 4-6 )
As a result of HIS rejection, the dry bones symbolizes the death of Israel, being far away from God. This also applies to the physical aspect, the millennium long exile of Israel away from its’ land. Where Israel was in exile were like tombs in which people waited, awaiting the resurrection: Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I reopen your graves, and I will take you up from your graves, O my people! and I will bring you back to the country of Israel. (Ezekiel 37, 12)
The vision of Ezekiel reveals that Geulah of Israel is accomplished in two stages: the first one physical and the second one spiritual.
The physical stage of the Geulah of Israel Ezekiel first saw the collection of bones, their coating of nerves, flesh and skin. This reflects the physical resurrection of the people on his land, formalized on the Fifth of Iyar Tash’ah, 14 May 1948. This is the first stage of the Geulah, the physical stage: So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a commotion, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And Io and behold, there were nerves upon them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was yet no breath in them. (Ezekiel 37, 7-8) Awaiting the second stage The momentum of the first stage of the Geulah, the physical building withered. Many of the expectations placed first in Zionism diminished. Transition to the second stage causes havoc for the spirit within. This uneasiness is left unexplained as people look at their frustration to find an answer. Non can really give an understanding to the source of this havoc. Ezekiel saw this disarray and made the right diagnosis: but there was yet no breath in them.(Ezekiel 37, 8 ) …
The spiritual stage of the Geulah Having past the first stage, we are standing at the entrance of the second stage of the Geulah, the stage of receiving the divine spirit. This stage is the spiritual Geulah in itself.
This stage being more fascinating, more remarkable, unbelievable and most extraordinary from the first and nothing the world ever expected. People will be identified by the promised divine spirit more than any form of external expression. So Israel will take on the role of the real Israel, the entrance through which God speaks to heal the degenerated humanity and to complete his work in leading the eternal Geulah. Similarly Adam, from dust of the ground, received the divine breath thus becoming a living being, this spirit spreads throughout the people and makes it a living people:
Then said He unto me: Prophecies unto the spirit, prophesy, son of man, and say to the spirit: Thus said the Lord GOD: Come from the four corners, come O spirit, and breath upon these corpses, that they may live. So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the spirit came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, a very very great force. Ezekiel 37, 9-10)
